The Telly Awards, the world’s largest honor for video and television content across all screens, has announced this year’s winners, including Jennifer Garner’s “Pretend Cooking Show” series, RadicalMedia’s “Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel” documentary series, Partizan’s “Fantastic Voyage” campaign, and much more. Under this year’s “Your Stories Defy The Limits” theme, standouts encompass the artistic and technical innovations that have surfaced in direct response to the challenges presented by 2020 and 2021. Additional winners range from Netflix, Microsoft, Condé Nast, HBO Latin America, and Nickelodeon to BET Digital, Adobe, Playstation, BBC Global News, and PAPER.
As a Lancaster-based video production company, MAKE/FILMS is proud to announce that we have been named a 42nd Annual Telly Awards Gold, Silver, and Bronze winner in four categories.
ABOUT THE PROJECT: Richwine & Hooven brought our crew in on this PSA for Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health. The idea for this project was to draw a connection between following guidelines and keeping community life open, using the idea of "open" to describe both the status of the community and a positive mindset. Through a montage of real people in everyday Lancaster County scenes — including the presence of masks, social distancing, etc. — we show the realness, goodness, and normalness of life that continues despite the added safety precautions.
ABOUT THE PROJECT: This was a letter from the heart to our beloved Lancaster. The writer, Catlin Williams, said, "Not long after the stay-at-home order was placed, we longed for a ways to stay connected to our beloved community. In sitting down to write Dear Lancaster, a love letter to the town I live, work, play in, what came out was a heartfelt time capsule of this very moment. It is honest ... it's a challenging, emotional time. It is hopeful ... because we are hopeful. Lancaster is strong because of its love and care for community, and even though we're physically apart, we're together in our strength, perseverance and compassion. Stay strong, Lancaster. We will get through this."
ABOUT THE PROJECT: Unlocked Box in partnership with BCG came to MAKE/ to create videos for their client Utopihen Farms. MAKE/ came up with a creative concept and Unlocked Box took the concept and turned it into a script. Once the script was finalized, we hit the ground running with pre production. We decided to shoot at multiple locations throughout Lancaster County to tell the unique story of Utopihen Farms. All in all it was a wonderful collaborative process with all involved!
ABOUT THE PROJECT: Chicco partnered with MAKE/FILMS to create content for their client, Walmart. This content highlights the key features of 7 Chicco products within 7 x 15-second product demo videos.
Through the use of beautiful lifestyle imagery in these product videos, viewers are able to visualize how seamlessly Chicco products could not only fit into their life, but help them out.
HISTORY OF THE TELLY AWARDS
The Telly Awards was founded in 1979 to honor excellence in local, regional and cable television commercials with non-broadcast video and television programming added soon after. With the recent evolution and rise of digital video (web series, VR, 360 and beyond), the Telly Awards today also reflects and celebrates this exciting new era of the moving image on and offline.
The Telly Awards annually showcases the best work created within television and across video, for all screens. Receiving over 12,000 entries from all 50 states and 5 continents, Telly Award winners represent work from some of the most respected advertising agencies, television stations, production companies and publishers from around the world. The Telly Awards recognizes work that has been created on the behalf of a client, for a specific brand and/or company (including your own) or self-directed as a creative endeavor.
Entrants are judged by The Telly Awards Judging Council—an industry body of over 200 leading experts including advertising agencies, production companies, and major television networks, reflective of the multiscreen industry and includes executives from Dow Jones, Duplass Brothers Productions, Complex Networks, A&E Networks, Hearst Media, ESPN Films, RYOT, Vice+ and Vimeo.
