In early January 2021 Darrell Kontis-Smith joined our team of Makers, filling the much needed role of Director of Operations. Coming all the way from LA, Darrell brings 20 years of experience working in the entertainment industry.

Q & A
Describe your career path leading to MAKE/.
Darrell: In High School I worked part-time in a movie theatre because I loved movies. Not knowing exactly what I wanted to do with my life after school I moved to Atlanta, GA and accepted a position with Disney assisting with in-theatre marketing for their films. For thirteen years I was groomed to hold several positions in Distribution that included Marketing, Sales, and Theatrical Asset Creation. Leading up to MAKE/ I continued my career growth working at multiple post production facilities in Account, Project, and Facility Management.

Who is Darrell?
Darrell: Originally from South Carolina, I’m a devoted husband and dog dad to a Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Alfie. I’m dedicated, attentive, helpful, hardworking, and all about details. An all around likable guy with a great sense of humor.
Why do you get up in the morning? What gives you energy?
Darrell: I’m an early riser. l love an agenda and getting things done. I like the feeling at the end of the day knowing all of the things I accomplished.
What excites you about the film industry?
Darrell: I love the process of filmmaking and what goes into it.
What drew you to MAKE/?
Darrell: The brand, the culture, and the team’s potential.
